Release Date and Pricing
The Kia EV3 is set to debut in Korea in July 2024, with a European release following in the second half of 2024. While exact dates for other markets haven’t been specified, a U.S. launch is anticipated in the first half of 2025. This phased rollout will help Kia address market-specific demands and production fine-tuning.
Speculation is rife, but many expect a starting MSRP ranging from $30,000 to $45,000. During the EV3 live reveal, KIA mentioned that the EV3 will have the “Power to move millions into the EV era.” Hopefully this means cheaper EVs as the current electric vehicle market is too unaffordable for the common consumer.
Performance and Range
The Kia EV3 offers two battery variants: a standard 58.3 kWh battery and a long-range 81.4 kWh battery. The long-range version provides an estimated 350 miles per charge under EPA standards. The standard battery offers a shorter range, closer to 200 miles, making it suitable for daily commutes and short trips. Charging the EV3 is convenient, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in about 31 minutes, thanks to its 400-volt architecture. This charging speed, while slightly slower compared to some of Kia’s other models, still offers practicality for most users.
Design and Features
Inspired by its larger sibling, the EV9, the Kia EV3 features a distinctive boxy shape that combines practicality with visual appeal. The EV3 measures 169 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 61 inches tall, fitting comfortably into the small SUV category. Its unique rear-hinged back doors add convenience for loading items and securing child seats.
The EV3 will be available in nine colors, including the newly introduced Aventurine Green and Terracotta. The exterior design is characterized by vertical headlights and a squared-off hood, giving it a friendly, modern look. The GT-Line variant adds sporty elements, such as unique wheels and a different bumper design.
Interior Comfort and Infotainment
Inside, the EV3 boasts a dual display panel extending across the dashboard, integrating a large infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster. The interior emphasizes sustainability, featuring recycled/biomaterial for the dashboard, door trims, seats, headliner, armrests, and floor mats. This eco-friendly approach is not new to KIA, but it emphasizes KIA's commitment to producing eco-friendly and sustainable EVs.
The EV3 is equipped with the KIA Assistant, a new generative AI assistant, and a 30” ultra-wide panorama display with a Harman Kardon sound system. Additional features include premium streaming from the Kia Connect Store, interior ambient lighting, and both in-vehicle and outdoor vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities.
