Performance

The 2023 Kia Sorento offers a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine for LX and S trims, capable of a healthy 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. In FWD, the Sorento gets 24/29 mpg and in AWD, 23/25 mpg. The Turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-4 is available for the EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims and produces a robust 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for FWD comes out to 22/29 mpg and 22/27 mpg for AWD. The base engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic while the turbo works in unison with a dual-clutch transmission. The performance and fuel economy of the 2023 Kia Sorento is the best in its class, outshining competitor vehicles such as the 2023 Nissan Murano and the 2023 Ford Edge.

Interior and Practicality

The 2023 Kia Sorento offers ample space for its size. There's 12.6 ft³ behind the third row and 38.5 ft³ with the third row folded down. Personal Thoughts

Personally, the 2023 Kia Sorento is not a bad deal for it's $30,090 starting MSRP. If given the choice, I'd go with the 2023 Kia Sorento EX, solely for the turbocharged engine. With almost 100 extra horsepower, you'd only be sacrificing a negligible mile or two in fuel economy. In Virginian weather, the FWD variant of the Kia Sorento is plenty enough, but AWD could be a tempting option if you travel often, or want a more confident driving experience in the rain or in the occasional winter snow. In regards to seating, the 3rd-row is highly practical and useful, but might be an uncomfortable experience for larger-sized adults. For a pleasant driving experience, the third-row should be reserved for smaller adults or children. Overall however, the 2023 Kia Sorento is a highly practical and powerful mid-sized SUV that's ready for anything you throw at it.
